Inaugural Meeting of the European Program IN NEET

The Mayor of Athienou, Mr. Kyriakos Kareklas, heading a municipality delegation, leaves for Athens on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 to attend the inaugural meeting of the “IN NEET” Program, within the initiative EUROPE FOR CITIZENS, in which Athienou Municipality participates as a partner and in which the leading partner is the Alimos Municipality of Greece.

The “IN NEET” program focuses on young people who are out of work, education and training and experiencing social exclusion and how the European Union can give them opportunities for change, claiming all their opportunities for learning, study, work, mobility, etc.Apart from the Municipality of Alimos in Greece and the Municipality of Athienou, the following bodies also participate in the program as partners:

Ayuntamiento de Santa Pola in Santa Pola, Spain, Associazione 2050 in Portogruaro, Italy, Youth Center Velenje culture and education in Velenje, Slovenia, Asociatia se Poate in Chiajna, Romania, Dica Onlus in Pisa, Italy and Sdruzhenie Yuni Partners of the city of Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria.

During the inaugural meeting, delegates will be welcomed by the Mayor of Alimos Mr. Andreas Kontylis, there will be presentations of the IN NEET Program and the cities and organizations of the Network by each partner, as well as presentations by the Hellenic Labor Organization (OAED), the Vice-Regional Government official, University professor, the General Secretaries of the Ministries of Tourism and Agriculture and Rural Development of Greece, as well as a representative of the Chamber of Commerce. On the last day there will be a visit and presentation of the Acropolis Museum.

The Budget of the Program is €148,680 and is covered 100% by European funding.
