Presentation of Material on Intercultural Integration and Cohesion
The Cypriot NGO C.I.P Citizens in Power, as coordinator of the Regional Intercultural Network of Larnaca and Nicosia, within the framework of the project “Strengthening Structures and Policies for Intercultural Integration in Cyprus”, funded by the Council of Europe, has created relevant material with the aim of strengthening structures and policies for intercultural integration in Cyprus.
The Intercultural Cities programme of the Council of Europe offers conceptual, analytical and policy-making tools to address the challenges related to the integration of migrants. Particular emphasis is placed on building trust, promoting community cohesion and managing diversity as an asset. The project builds on the positive changes that have emerged from the project and extends them. Within the framework of the project, a series of methodological tools have been developed to enhance cohesion and social inclusion in local and national communities.
Specifically:
- Handbook on Intercultural Competence and Ethical Reporting of Migrants (Εγχειρίδιο στη διαπολιτισμική Ικανότητα και ηθική αναφορά στοιχείων που αφορούν μετανάστες): The handbook can be used by journalists, media professionals and content creators. It is designed to promote ethical coverage of migration-related content. Its aim is to contribute to the creation of inclusive and intercultural cities, equipping those involved in migration with tools through which migrant stories are presented in a fair and humane manner, overcoming stereotypes and promoting an ethical approach to news reporting.
- Interculturality Checklist (Λίστα Ελέγχου Διαπολιτισμικότητας): The checklist is designed to help the Local Authorities of Larnaca District and civil society to assess whether a proposed project, policy or action is intercultural in nature.
- Materials for Learning the Greek Language (Ελληνικής Γλώσσας ) and Skills Development (Ανάπτυξης Δεξιοτήτων) which provide basic tools and materials for individuals who want to improve their language proficiency and professional skills.
