It is with profound sadness that Mana Products announces the passing of its owner, Nikos Mouyiaris, on the 5th of January 2019. Nikos passed peacefully at home.
Entrepreneur, innovator and philanthropist, Nikos Mouyiaris, was the Founder and CEO of Mana Products, Inc., one of the world’s leading contract and private label cosmetics manufacturers. A graduate of St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and Rutgers University with a Master of Science, Nikos was a visionary business and community leader.
Nikos was passionate and steadfast in his support of issues concerning Greece & Cyprus and human rights at large. He was the founder of the Hellenic American Leadership Council, an organization that quickly led the way in training tomorrow’s leaders in the Community, one of Nikos’ biggest passions. Nikos was on the board of the Coordinated Effort of Hellenes, the Pancyprian Association of America, and a strong supporter of many others, including the International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus. His philanthropic endeavors included the Elytis Chair at Rutgers, Children’s SOS Villages in Greece, and other organizations in the US, Greece and Cyprus. Nikos was a humble yet major supporter of Paradise 4 Kids, an Ebola orphanage in Sierra Leone and the Malaika Foundation, educating young girls in the Congo.
Nikos epitomized the American Dream. As a poor student from Cyprus he emigrated to the States in 1964, and in the early 1970s founded Mana Products, Inc., with $6,000 he borrowed from his brother. Passionate about paying it forward and recognizing that success comes from standing on the shoulders of those that came before us, Nikos helped hundreds, if not thousands, in a low key, understated manner. Nikos never asked or wanted to be thanked; he believed in helping as much as he could. It was a pivotal moment for Nikos when he received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. He was honored by many organizations through the years, and although Nikos disliked the attention, he saw it as an opportunity to deliver his message and inspire people to act. Nikos believed in the ‘power of one.’
Mana Products will continue to be managed by its General Manager, N. Paul Masturzo, and the Executive Team that has been in place for the last few years.
Nikos leaves behind his beloved wife Carol and daughter Ariana, grandsons, brother George, aunts, uncles, and many nephews, nieces, family and friends who will miss him deeply.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following organizations:
